DIY GIFT:

CAKE IN A CAN (w/Millennium Tape!)  By Amanda Cupcake.

http://amandacupcake.blogspot.com/

Ingredients/Supplies:

Your favorite cake or cupcake recipe
Your favorite frostings, fillings, or cookie dough
Your favorite sprinkles
Cans from the canned food dept in grocery store (preferably with flip tabs on lids)
Can opener
Shipping Tape
Double sided tape
Decorative cardstock
Scissors
Wooden spoons
Ribbon

To prepare the cans, remove the paper from your empty can. Keep this paper if possible-you will want to use it as a template to make a decorative wrapper for the outside of the can.. Remove the bottom part of each can with a can opener, Do not remove the lid with the flip tab. The magical thing is that the person who receives your cupcake as a gift can open the top with the flip tab like it is the first time the cupcake has been open! Do not throw the bottom lid pieces away, you will be using the shipping tape to re-tape the bottom piece on after the cake has been baked inside the can and decorated. Grease and flour the inside of the can.

To bake the cake inside of the can: Preheat oven to 325 and line a baking sheet with empty cans. After you have mixed your favorite cake batter, fill each can halfway with batter. Bake for about 28 minutes. Test by inserting a toothpick into the cake to make sure it is baked the whole way through. Let the cake cool before removing from the pan.

While letting the cake cool: Use the paper from your empty can as a template to cut out decorative cardstock wrappers for the outside of the can. You can use double sided tape to tape the cardstock wrappers to the can.

Once the cake has cooled: Remove from the can. Pipe frosting and sprinkles into the can once it is empty. There are a few options on how you might want to insert the cake back into the can. Option 1: Insert the cake back into the can after piping frosting & sprinkles into the can. Option 2: Using a bread knife, cut the cake into mini layers. Pipe frosting onto each layer, and insert each one-one by one into the can until full. Option 3: If you are having a party, leave can open and display with piled high frosting swirls on top like a cupcake parfait. Option 4: Completely remove the cake and eat or decorate the cake outside of the can! Who says you have to put it back in the can? However, the can is an awesome option if you want to gift this to someone.

Once the cake is back inside the can, tape your lid back onto the bottom of the can using shipping tape or decorative duck tape. Once the can is taped shut, flip right side up. Decorate the outside of the can too. Add ribbon, wooden spoons, anything that inspires you or the person you are gifting this to.

DIY TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS!

Did you know that your toothbrush can shelter around 100 million bacteria? Yes, the same thing that you use to clean your teeth and mouth can be the source of a majority of your health problems.

Keeping your toothbrush safe from germs and bacteria is not only required for your dental health but also for your overall good health.

These bacteria make the toothbrush their home when you leave it unattended, near the bathroom sink or on the wet tiles. To protect your toothbrush, here is an easy DIY tutorial for making toothbrush holders.

You would need some plastic caps from soft drink bottles, a cutter, and a bottle of spray paint if you would want to show off some creativity, along with some double sided tape.

Take the caps and using the cutter, slash a little part from it, just enough to hold the part below the bristles of the brush. Spray paint the caps in the colors of your choice and using the double-sided tape, stick the cap on your bathroom wall.
